Amazing Grace on the Black Notes

Two of the most common metaphors for sin in the New Testament are (1) sin as a terminal illness, and (2) sin as slavery. Last Sunday I preached on the healing of the ten lepers (Luke 17:11-19), where we focused on the former. This video reminds us of the latter. In both senses the remedy is Christ's taking on himself our sin and sinfulness, and uniting us by faith to his freedom and health/cleanness. Soli Deo Gloria!

Calvin and Hobbes

I once read surmised that Bill Watterson named the characters in his cartoon strip after John Calvin and Thomas Hobbes (empiricist philosopher). Don't know if that is true or not. But Bill Watterson walked away from the cartoon abruptly in 1995, after a 10-year run, and is apparently publicity-shy.
