You Cannot Serve God and ________

Yesterday our sermon text included Jesus' words: "You cannot serve God and money." In fact, you can place almost anything in the place of "money" in that sentence, and it would hold equally true. I've just finished Tim Keller's book, Counterfeit Gods, and he pointed to a sermon that deals with "soul idolatry"--not the external bowing down to physical idols, but the internal bowing down to the idols that our hearts create for us. That sermon is well worth a read.
